Job summary

Blackwater State School in Queensland is seeking a Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities on a Temporary Part-Time basis (0.60FTE; 46 hours per fortnight). The role covers grounds maintenance, minor repairs, and facility setup for school activities, ensuring adherence to WHS requirements and safe operation of all facilities.

You will work with school staff, contractors and the broader school community to support smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in grounds and facilities upkeep is advantageous.
• Ability to perform general repairs and maintenance with minimal supervision.
• Awareness of workplace health and safety requirements and reporting of hazards.

• Undertake general repairs, maintenance and servicing of school facilities and equipment.
• Maintain grounds, gardens, ovals and outdoor sporting facilities.
• Safely use, store and maintain tools and equipment.
• Monitor WHS requirements and report hazards.
• Liaise with staff, contractors and stakeholders on maintenance matters.
• Order and manage grounds, cleaning and maintenance supplies.
• Support agricultural activities where required.
• Provide day-to-day school support, including deliveries, furniture, stores, equipment and events.

Your opportunity:

The role involves a broad range of duties including grounds maintenance, minor repairs and maintenance, setting up facilities and equipment for school activities, monitoring the condition of buildings and outdoor spaces, and helping ensure the school site meets workplace health and safety requirements.

The Schools Officer also works closely with school staff, contractors and the broader school community to support the smooth operation of the school.

This is a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.60FTE), 46 hours per fortnight, days and hours can be negotiated with the successful applicant.
