Job summary

NSW Department of Education is seeking a qualified School Psychologist to deliver counselling and psychological assessments across primary and high school settings. Based at Great Lakes College Tuncurry Campus, you’ll collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies to support student wellbeing and learning outcomes.

You will participate in supervision, professional development, and use the NSW School Counselling Service framework to guide practice.

Qualifications

• General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia
• Valid and current Working with Children Check clearance – WWCC NSW
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency
• Current and valid driver’s license with willingness to travel between work sites

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups
• Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service
• Works in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve outcomes
• Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students
• Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessment of students and reports results
• Works with parents, carers and other agencies to develop school-based support
• Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents
• Refers students/ families to other agencies for wellbeing outcomes
