Job summary

NSW Department of Education seeks a qualified school counsellor based at Great Lakes College Tuncurry Campus to support student wellbeing and learning through counselling and psychological assessments.

You will work within a collegiate, multidisciplinary team, receiving supervision and contributing to group and peer supervision while engaging with diverse school communities. Start date: 28 January 2027.

Qualifications

• Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with a demonstrated understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people.
• Experience in the psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse students.
• Must be a registered or provisionally registered psychologist, or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Ability and willingness to travel between worksites. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s licence.

• Provide counselling and psychological assessment to support student learning and wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teachers, families and outside agencies to enhance student outcomes.
• Engage with diverse school communities and participate in supervision and professional development.
