Job summary

Parkes High School is seeking a School Psychologist to provide counselling and psychological assessment for students across primary and high school levels. You will collaborate with staff and external agencies to support learning and wellbeing and participate in supervision within the school counselling team.

You will be supported to complete or maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, with opportunities for professional development, travel between sites, and a comprehensive

Qualifications

• Knowledge of and commitment to Aboriginal Education Policy and inclusion strategies.
• General or Provisional Psychology Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
• Valid Working with Children Check clearance (WWCC) – NSW.
• Current and valid driver’s licence with ability to travel between work sites.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Provides counselling and psychological services to students individually and in groups.
• Implements Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
• Collaborates with the principal, staff and support services to improve learning and wellbeing.
• Supports students with complex behavioural needs and their families.
• Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments and reports results.
• Works with parents, carers and outside agencies to develop school-based support.
• Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
• Refers students and families to external services for ongoing health and wellbeing support.
