Job summary

Brisbane Catholic Education’s St Martin’s School seeks a reliable Grounds person to maintain lawns, gardens and outdoor learning spaces. The role is full-time, 38 hours per week, based in CARINA, with an hourly rate of $34.17–$35.62 plus 12.75% super.

Responsibilities include mowing, hedging, pruning, planting and safe setup for events. Applicants should have groundskeeping experience, WHS commitment and be able to work collaboratively with staff and the school community.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated groundskeeping, gardening or landscaping experience.
• Competence with ride-on mowing, hedging and pruning; safe use of grounds equipment.
• Proactive planning and ability to complete tasks.
• Good organisational and time-management skills with task prioritisation.
• Practical problem-solving and sound judgement.
• Physical capacity for outdoor work.
• Strong interpersonal skills working with students, staff and families.
• Reliability, patience and team contribution.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing school priorities.
• Experience supervising grounds staff, trades or apprentices.
• Commitment to WHS requirements.
• Relevant Certificate III or apprenticeship completion highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, gardens, landscaped areas and outdoor learning spaces.
• Undertake ride-on mowing, edging, hedging, pruning, weeding and planting.
• Monitor grounds and perform seasonal and preventative maintenance.
• Assist with setup and pack-down of school events, furniture and equipment.
• Identify and report hazards and maintenance needs.
• Follow WHS procedures and maintain a clean, secure school environment.
• Maintain a safe working environment for staff, students and visitors.
