Job summary

St Marys School, Laidley, in the Lockyer Valley, is seeking a dedicated Grounds Service Officer to maintain vibrant gardens, sports ovals and grounds. You will support presentation, maintenance and enhancements, work 24 hours per week over 4 days, with start date 09/11/2026, and salary $32.50 per hour plus 12.75% super.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of maintaining playing surfaces, including fertilising, seeding, and turfing.
• Ability to assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals.
• Skilled in safely operating and maintaining small machinery, ensuring safety for all.
• Experience in equipment and plant maintenance, following the grounds maintenance plan.
• Ability to assist in ordering and purchasing materials for maintenance tasks.
• Relevant Certificate III level qualifications or completion of an apprenticeship.
• Not required to be Catholic.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the maintenance of playing surfaces, including setting up greens, top dressing, fertilising under supervision, seeding, turfing, coring and sprigging.
• Assisting in the preparation of ovals for sporting events and carnivals.
• Safely operate and maintain small machinery and plant, as required, considering the risk to self and others.
• Assisting in the equipment and plant maintenance repairs including carrying out tasks allotted under the grounds and gardens maintenance plan.
• Assisting in the ordering and purchase of materials.
