Job summary

Dandenong High School in Melbourne's south-east is seeking an Education and training role focused on maintenance and safety. You will maintain grounds, support facilities, and carry out scheduled tasks under the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to undertake maintenance duties including some trade experience relevant to the role.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a working environment.
• Strong organisational skills to investigate, prioritise, take appropriate action and address maintenance issues as they arise.
• Capacity to work effectively as a member of a team, to follow instructions and take on responsibility to work independently without direct supervision.
• Knowledge and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of the Maintenance Team to ensure the facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard
• Develop, implement and monitor a planting and garden maintenance schedule
• Evaluate and select equipment, materials and plants and make recommendations to senior management.
• Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials
• Respond to maintenance tasks as they are assigned by the Facilities Manager
• Comply with requirements of scheduled inspections (tree audit, facility audit, asbestos, mechanical equipment
• Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition
• Assisting with setup of school exams held in the gymnasium as per yearly program
• Manage procedures relating to the maintenance and care of gardening equipment
• Assist with the security of equipment and buildings
• Ensure work complies with Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and practices
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the Principal or Facilities Manager
