Job summary

Department of Education Victoria Balwyn is seeking a Facilities Maintenance officer for a part-time role (2 days per fortnight) to maintain school facilities, grounds, and hydrotherapy pool safety. The role requires basic maintenance skills, ability to work with tradespeople, and adherence to OHS standards.

The successful candidate will support cleaning, assist with events, and perform minor repairs across the Balwyn site, contributing to a safe and well‑presented school environment.

Qualifications

• Must have good understanding of OHS requirements
• Experience with school facilities maintenance preferred
• Ability to perform minor repairs and basic carpentry
• Able to organise and track inventory of maintenance supplies
• Capable of working with cleaners and leadership teams

Responsibilities

• Undertake general maintenance and minor works around buildings and grounds to a high standard
• Provide additional cleaning when required including graffiti removal
• Safely operate machinery and equipment for maintenance tasks
• Maintain safe work practices and ensure site safety at all times
• Move furniture and equipment for events and set ups
• Carry out regular inspections of roofs, gutters, drains and toilets to identify issues
