Job summary

Gaayip-Yagila Primary School in Mickleham, part of the Victorian public system, seeks a Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Officer to maintain gardens, grounds and buildings. The role requires multitasking across gardening, cleaning and safety tasks, with attendance during holiday breaks and 4 weeks annual leave negotiable hours.

You will work with OHS guidelines, coordinate with external contractors, and support the Operations team to keep school facilities safe and well presented for students

Qualifications

• Experience in landscape and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to coordinate tasks and work with others.
• Knowledge of safety and welfare guidelines in schools.

Responsibilities

• Perform various landscape and seasonal garden duties including gardening, blowing leaves, planting and weeding.
• Coordinate the maintenance of school buildings and equipment, including gutter and roof cleaning.
• Support minor project development on grounds and in buildings.
• Support Operations, OHS and Policy Manager with service providers/contractors.
• Move furniture and equipment.
• Minor cleaning.
• Check the school perimeters and playground equipment on a regular basis to ensure the grounds are safe.
• Keep storage facilities clean and tidy.
• Work as part of a team maintaining Occupational Health and Safety compliance including regular inspections and reporting issues.
• Work with the Principal and relevant managers to meet grounds maintenance schedules.
• Work under the direction of and in collaboration with the Operations, OHS and Policy Manager.
• Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality.
• Undertake other related duties as requested by the Principal.
• Hold a current Working with Children Check.
