Job description

Carmichael College is a Prep to Year 12 co-educational, non-denominational Christian College situated in Morayfield, Queensland. The College was established in 2015 and is enjoying steady growth.

The College is seeking applications from passionate Christian professionals to join our team as a Part-Time School Chaplain. This role reports to the Chaplaincy Coordinator and provides pastoral care and discipleship services and strategies that support the social, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of the school community.

In this role you will:

• Provide pastoral care to students (individually and in small groups) who may be facing various struggles such as mental health struggles, friendship concerns, following grief and loss, self-esteem.
• Maintain current and relevant records; pastoral care notes, permission forms, program rolls.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers and necessary college staff around the needs of students.
• Know the gospel and be able to share it, in word through conversation, small groups, devotions, chapel talks and through deeds.
• Participate in the life of the school through activities such as playground duties, sports days, celebration nights, camps, You Belong Day, Prayer Week etc.
• Building a sense of connection within the college community by being a part of the Brekkie Club and active at lunchtimes through leading activities or simply connecting with students.
• Involvement in weekly chapel services.

Applicants should:

• Hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Chaplaincy or Pastoral Care or equivalent or higher qualification in fields of Social Science, Education, Counselling, Ministry.
• Have a minimum 1 year of chaplaincy experience in a school environment.
• Effectively communicate and liaise with college administration, staff, parents, health and allied professionals and relevant agencies
• Ability to quickly build rapport with students and adults
• Professionally represent the College in personal presentation, manner, and Christ-like service.
• Work within the College’s mission, framework, and policies at all times.
• Comply with College policies, procedures, and practices, including Health and Safety and the Staff Code of Conduct.
• Applicants must be an Australian citizen, the College does not offer international sponsorship.
