Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking an experienced SBA Technical Services Manager to join the Technical Support Services team. Reporting to the Associate Director, you will lead operational readiness of technical services within SBA, ensuring the facility is ready to support accelerated research and clinical translation from day one.

Qualifications

• Degree in life sciences or equivalent training and experience.
• Experience establishing, mobilising or transitioning new services in research/health settings.
• Ability to define infrastructure, equipment and staffing for laboratory readiness.
• Proven ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience managing lab or clinical environments with compliance requirements.
• Understanding of OGTR/PC2, WHS and human/animal ethics.
• Extensive experience leading staff through organisational change.
• Experience in financial forecasting and budget planning for strategic initiatives.
• Experience supervising and mentoring technical staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational readiness planning for SBA's technical facilities.
• Build relationships with University and SLHD counterparts and committees.
• Design and implement shared systems, workflows, training and procedures.
• Plan the technical workforce for SBA and advise on staffing needs.
• Drive equipment procurement, evaluation and contracts management.
• Develop and manage the SBA asset management plan and related processes.
