Job summary

CHC Helicopter Australia is seeking an experienced SAR Aircrew Officer based at Tindal, NT. The role covers Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical, Rappelling, Sling Loading, Passenger Transport and Winching operations, supported by rigorous safety standards.

You will operate across onshore and offshore environments, travel to CHC bases, and participate in regular fitness assessments while maintaining dual qualifications where required. The position offers relocation support.

Qualifications

• Current CASA Class II Medical.
• Current Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen (HLTAID015).
• Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011).
• Current Flight Radiotelephone Operators Licence.
• CASA approved hoist endorsement under CASR PART 133/138.
• Current Class 1 driver’s licence.
• SAR/EMS experience.
• HUET and Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS).
• NVIS qualification and night operation experience.
• SLS Bronze Medallion or Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue).
• Certificate IV in Aviation (CASA compliance).

Responsibilities

• Maintain qualifications - Aircrew Officer.
• Option to maintain dual qualifications - Aircrew & Rescue Crew Officer.
• Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
• Conduct safe flight operations complying with company operations manuals and relevant regulations.
• Assist the Aircrew Officer/Utility Hoist Operator in the management of the aircraft rear cabin during flying operations.
• Conduct appropriate flight and safety briefings.
• Thorough knowledge of all search and rescue equipment and operating in a safe, reliable manner.
• Complete appropriate pre-flight & post flight inspection and documentation.
• Conduct aircraft flight preparation and post-flight husbandry.
• Report on all operational and maintenance safety deficiencies and assist with replacement of unserviceable equipment.
• Render appropriate first aid where necessary and the ability to be performed under demanding conditions.
• Able to travel to all CHC bases, including training and deployment locations.
• Be able to complete the company fitness test on a periodic basis.
• A visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behaviour.
• May be assigned other tasks and duties as required to support the business
