• Proven vendor management and orchestration capability.
• Experience delivering SAP technical components across project or product delivery contexts.
• ITIL Foundations certification.
• Strong understanding of platform security, lifecycle management, and performance optimisation.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse stakeholder groups.
• Exposure to supporting technologies such as Redwood, UC4, or Kiteworks is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead SAP Basis platform lifecycle activities.
• Oversee system stability and performance tuning.
• Act as Level 3 escalation point for complex SAP issues.
• Act as the Level 3 escalation point for complex SAP Basis and supporting technology issues.
• Drive proactive incident trend analysis and convert insights into improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to solution design, estimation, and operational readiness for SAP-related projects.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, backup, and recovery standards.
• Maintain CMDB accuracy and enforce platform governance frameworks.
• Support delivery teams with technical leadership and transition‑to‑support standards.

Job description

This is a 6-month contract opportunity for an experienced SAP Technical BASIS Consultant to take ownership of a complex, enterprise SAP landscape operating in a 24x7 environment. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, security, and continuous evolution of the SAP platform and its supporting technologies. Working within a large-scale digital environment, you will focus on platform currency, lifecycle execution, vendor-delivered operations, and technical governance. This contract is about strengthening platform resilience, uplifting operational standards, and ensuring the SAP environment is secure, optimised, and future‑ready. Based in Melbourne, this 6-month engagement will see you working across both operational and project initiatives, with high visibility across technical and delivery teams.

What you’ll do

• Lead SAP Basis platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, OS and database currency, and capacity planning
• Oversee system stability, availability, performance tuning, and security posture
• Govern vendor-delivered SAP technical services and ensure adherence to KPIs and standards
• Act as the Level 3 escalation point for complex SAP Basis and supporting technology issues
• Drive proactive incident trend analysis and convert insights into improvement initiatives
• Contribute to solution design, estimation, and operational readiness for SAP-related projects
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, backup, and recovery standards
