Role: SAP Payroll Technical Lead - Product & System Owner (Internal Title: ICT Product & System Owner - SAP Payroll)

Goodstart is seeking an experienced SAP Payroll Product & System Owner to manage the operational performance and technical support of the solution.

As the technical and product owner of our SAP ECC 6.0 HCM/Payroll solution, you will ensure this critical platform remains stable, secure, compliant and aligned with Goodstart's business needs. This role requires significant hands-on experience in the administration, configuration, support and optimisation of SAP ECC HCM/Payroll, with accountability for maintaining day-to-day operational performance and delivering system improvements.

You will combine deep SAP Payroll expertise with product ownership, stakeholder engagement and vendor management to drive continuous improvement and deliver reliable payroll outcomes for our people. While an understanding of Australian payroll legislation is desirable, more importantly, you will have demonstrated experience assessing, implementing, testing and deploying legislative and compliance-related payroll changes within SAP Payroll environments to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing.

You will also play a key role in Goodstart's payroll technology transformation by supporting the program of work to deliver our future-state payroll solution, including the transition when this work commences. Exposure to or working knowledge of SuccessFactors solutions will be highly regarded.

Your Impact:

As part of the Corporate Services ICT team, you'll be the primary subject matter expert for the SAP ECC 6 Payroll platform. Working closely with Payroll, Employee Services, ICT teams, business stakeholders and external service partners, you will:

• Own the SAP Payroll product strategy, roadmap and prioritised backlog.


• Lead the hands-on administration, configuration, technical support and optimisation of SAP ECC 6.0 HCM/Payroll.


• Ensure the ongoing stability, performance, supportability and availability of the payroll platform.


• Deliver system enhancements, payroll configuration changes, legislative updates and compliance-driven improvements.


• Assess, implement, test and deploy legislative, award and payroll-related changes within the SAP Payroll environment.


• Oversee payroll integrations between SAP ECC, SAP SuccessFactors and other business systems.


• Coordinate impact assessments, testing, transport management, deployment activities and business readiness.


• Lead production support, incident resolution, problem management and root cause analysis.


• Strengthen payroll system governance, controls, reconciliation processes and audit readiness.


• Manage relationships with SAP and external service partners to support performance, service delivery and continuous improvement.


• Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, reliability and user experience.


• Support and contribute to the program of work delivering Goodstart's future-state payroll solution, including SAP S/4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll initiatives

You’ll bring to the table:

• At least five years' experience providing hands-on support, systems administration, configuration and maintenance of SAP ECC HCM/Payroll environments.


• Strong technical knowledge of SAP ECC 6.0 HCM/Payroll, including payroll schemas, configuration structures e.g. wage types, etc, payroll control processes and integration points.


• Proven experience implementing, testing and deploying legislative, compliance and payroll-related changes within SAP Payroll environments.


• Experience supporting payroll integrations, interfaces, custom developments and data reconciliation activities.


• Demonstrated experience delivering payroll system enhancements through structured change, testing, release and transport management processes.


• Understanding of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements. Experience translating legislative requirements into system configuration and payroll solutions will be highly regarded.


• Strong understanding of payroll governance, controls, reconciliation and audit requirements.


• Demonstrated problem-solving capability, including incident management, defect resolution and root cause analysis.


• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.


• Experience managing external technology vendors and/or service delivery partners.


• Working knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors, particularly Employee Central Payroll and related SuccessFactors modules, is desirable.


• Experience supporting payroll transformation, migration or modernisation programs will be highly regarded.


• Willingness to obtain Queensland Blue Card & complete the National Child Safety Foundation Training
