Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an accomplished SAP Operations Lead to take end-to-end ownership of the SAP landscape, with relocation to Melbourne. You will drive performance, reliability and continuous improvement across enterprise SAP platforms and ensure alignment with business strategy.

You will lead a capable operations team, manage third-party vendors, and partner with senior stakeholders to shape roadmaps, lifecycle upgrades and cost optimisation while maintaining security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading enterprise SAP environments in a senior functional, technical or operational capacity.
• Demonstrated leadership across SAP development, integration, security, controls and Basis activities.
• Strong knowledge of SAP core modules, integrations and contemporary cloud interfaces.
• Experience managing third-party SAP vendors and managed service providers.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced SAP Operations Lead to take responsibility for the end-to-end technical and operational performance of the organisation's SAP landscape.

You will ensure SAP services remain reliable, secure, resilient and aligned with business strategy and agreed service standards. Working across business and technology teams, you will translate operational requirements into sustainable roadmaps covering platform stability, lifecycle upgrades, capability uplift, risk reduction and cost optimisation.

Responsibilities

SAP Operations & Service Delivery

• Lead the operational performance, governance and continuous improvement of the SAP environment.

Technical Leadership

• Oversee SAP Basis administration, upgrades, patching, monitoring and environment management.

• Manage SAP vendors, managed service providers and support contracts.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, automation and performance improvements.

• Lead and develop the SAP Operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build strong relationships across business and technology teams to align SAP services with organisational priorities.

What Our Client Requires

• Significant experience supporting and operating enterprise SAP environments in a senior functional, technical or operational role
• Demonstrated leadership across SAP development, integration, security, controls and Basis activities
• Strong understanding of SAP core modules, functions, integrations and contemporary cloud interfaces
• Experience leading operational support teams within an IT service environment
• Demonstrated experience managing third-party SAP vendors and managed-service providers
• Strong knowledge of ITIL-aligned incident, problem and change management disciplines
• Ability to balance business priorities with platform stability, security and operational risk
• Strong commercial, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• Experience developing operational roadmaps and driving continuous improvement

Highly Regarded

• Tertiary qualification in information technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management experience
• Experience contributing to SAP investment planning, lifecycle upgrades and business cases
• Demonstrated change leadership and experience applying structured change-management practices
