Job summary

ALS is seeking a dedicated Sample Services Officer for our Brisbane team. The role combines client service, sample receipt, records management and regular environmental sample collections across Southeast Queensland.

Expect a mix of site work and road duties with standard Monday–Friday hours, based at our Stafford site. You will coordinate freight, register and label samples, assist clients and prepare outgoing shipments while upholding safety and data integrity in a dynamic laboratory

Responsibilities

• Greet clients dropping off samples and register incoming samples.
• Receive deliveries and manage client samples.
• Ensure calls and emails are answered promptly and professionally.
• Arrange couriers and prepare freight for dispatch.
• Collect samples across Southeast Queensland.
• Review, label and distribute samples within required timeframes.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments and handling procedures.
• Manual handling up to 10 kg; manage storage and disposal following safety rules.
• Operate a forklift to load/unload cages.

About The Role

ALS is looking for a Sample Services Officer to join our Brisbane team in a varied role supporting our environmental laboratory operations.

This is not a traditional warehouse or courier role. While you’ll help coordinate freight and sample movements, the position is much broader and includes client service, sample receipt, records management and regular sample collection runs across Southeast Queensland.

A typical month includes a mix of time at our Brisbane site and time on the road. You’ll regularly be involved in receiving incoming freight, registering and labelling samples, assisting clients and preparing outgoing shipments, as well as completing scheduled environmental sample collections from our clients.

This is a fulltime, permanent position working Monday-Friday 9:30am-5:45pm. When not on the road you will be based at ALS's site in Stafford.

In this role, you will:

• Greeting clients dropping off samples.
• Receive deliveries and register client samples.
• Ensuring phone calls and emails are answered promptly and professionally.
• Arrange couriers and prepare freight for dispatch.
• Sample collection across Southeast Queensland.
• Ensuring sample deliveries and COC's are reviewed/triaged, labelled and distributed within designated timeframes and according to client needs and approved sample receipt procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments
• Manual handling up to 10kg loads.
• Maintain sample storage and disposal by following safe work practices.
• Use a forklift to load and unload cages.
