Alchemy Recruitment Consulting – Brisbane QLD is supporting a local government client in recruiting for a Sample Reception Officer to join their NATA accredited environmental testing laboratory in Darra on a 6-month contract. The role pays $39.94 per hour plus super, with a 38-hour work week from Monday to Friday.

• ISO 17025 or NATA accreditation familiarity is a plus.

Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a local government owned client to support them in recruiting for a Sample Reception Officer to join their NATA accredited environmental testing laboratory in Darra on an immediate start contract.

About the role

• Pay rate of $39.94 per hour + super
• 6-month contract from 2 November 2026 to 30 April 2027, with extension potential
• Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (38 hours per week)
• Receive, inspect and register water and environmental samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
• Verify sample documentation and chain of custody records for completeness and accuracyCoordinate sample storage, preservation and distribution to the chemistry and microbiology testing sections
• Act as a key point of contact for customer sample enquiries and resolve discrepancies with clients, field teams and couriers
• Prepare and dispatch sample containers, wash laboratory glassware, and complete occasional courier runs
• Full training provided on laboratory systems, procedures and quality requirements

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in a laboratory, scientific, environmental or similarly regulated environment
• Experience with LIMS or comparable databases highly regarded
• Previous experience in an ISO 17025 or NATA accredited laboratory favourable
• Strong customer service skills and a confident phone manner
• High attention to detail and accurate data entry
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Science qualification (for example chemistry, microbiology, environmental or laboratory science), or a business qualification, or relevant work experience
