Job summary

Randstad Australia in Ballarat is seeking a Branch Manager to lead our HVAC wholesale branch. This hands-on role combines operational management, sales execution, and financial accountability to drive revenue and service quality for HVAC contractors, builders, and maintenance providers.

You will oversee warehouse operations, manage the P&L within budget, mentor onsite staff, and champion WHS compliance while building strong customer partnerships and sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Services) or Business/Management qualification.
• Experience in branch operations, sales management, or distribution in HVAC/trade wholesale.
• Strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Solid financial literacy with margin management, budgeting, and costing.
• Good product knowledge of HVAC systems and trade customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day branch operations and inventory control to ensure efficiency and presentation.
• Execute branch sales plans, manage key contractor accounts, prepare quotes, and prospect for new customers and projects.
• Conduct client calls/visits to drive revenue and strengthen relationships.
• Manage branch P&L and control operating expenditure within budgets; monitor margins and assist with credit processes.
• Mentor, coach and develop onsite staff (Branch Supervisor, Counter Sales, Storeperson) while maintaining a safe, high-performance culture.
• Champion WHS compliance and lead annual stocktakes within accuracy targets.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Branch Manager to lead our branch operations in Ballarat. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this hands-on role combines operational management, team leadership, financial accountability, and active sales execution within the trade-based HVAC wholesale sector.

You will take full ownership of branch performance—driving revenue growth, managing inventory, maintaining P&L efficiency, and delivering exceptional customer service to HVAC contractors, builders, and maintenance providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Branch Operations: Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, order processing, dispatch, receiving, and inventory control to ensure high presentation and operational efficiency.
• Sales & Business Development: Execute branch sales plans, manage key contractor accounts, prepare quotes, and actively prospect for new customers and commercial projects.
• Field Engagement: Conduct client sales calls/visits.
• Financial Oversight: Manage branch P&L performance, control operational expenditure within budget targets, monitor margins, and assist with credit processes.
• Team Leadership & Culture: Supervise, mentor, and coach onsite staff (Branch Supervisor, Counter Sales, Storeperson) while fostering a safe, supportive, and high-performance team environment.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion Work Health & Safety (WHS) protocols, ensure quality assurance standards are met, and lead annual stocktakes within accuracy targets.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications: Trade qualification (HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, or Mechanical Services) OR a qualification in Business/Management (equivalent industry experience highly valued).
• Experience: Proven track record in branch, operations, or sales management within a trade wholesale, HVAC, or distribution environment.
• Leadership Skills: Strong team management capabilities in a fast-paced operational setting.
• Commercial Acumen: Strong financial literacy with experience in margin management, expenditure control, budgeting, and quoting.
• Product Knowledge: Solid understanding of HVAC systems, components, and trade customer requirements.
