Job description

Safety Advisor - Transport, Warehousing & Logistics

This is a hands-on operational safety role suited to someone who enjoys being out on the floor, engaging with people and making a genuine difference to workplace safety.

Working closely with our General Managers, Operations Managers, Supervisors and the broader PSEQ team, you will provide practical WHS advice, support regulatory compliance and help drive improvements in safety performance.

We are looking for someone with a positive, proactive and solutions-focused attitude who can work independently, identify risks before incidents occur and confidently challenge unsafe practices.

The successful candidate will be approachable, enthusiastic and committed to building strong working relationships with operational teams, fostering a collaborative approach to improving workplace safety. They will also bring demonstrated experience in workers compensation, injury management and return-to-work coordination, with the ability to effectively manage claims, support injured workers and work collaboratively with our brokers, insurers, rehabilitation providers and operational managers to achieve positive recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

AirRoad’s NSW operations are expected to relocate to our new Kemps Creek facility in Q1 2027.

The successful candidate will support our operations through this transition and help maintain strong safety standards throughout the move.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical WHS advice and support across transport, warehousing and logistics operations.

  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits and operational risk assessments.

  • Lead and support incident investigations, identify root causes and monitor corrective actions.

  • Support the implementation and ongoing review of WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices.

  • Monitor compliance with relevant WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

  • Support Chain of Responsibility (CoR), contractor safety and heavy vehicle compliance activities.

  • Manage workers compensation claims, injury management and return-to-work processes, working collaboratively with injured workers, insurers, rehabilitation providers and operational managers to support safe and sustainable return-to-work outcomes.

  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety training and consultation with team members and Health and Safety Representatives.

  • Identify and assess operational hazards, including forklift operations, traffic management, manual handling and working at heights.

  • Support psychosocial hazard identification, consultation and risk management.

  • Maintain accurate WHS records, incident reports and corrective actions within our integrated management system.

  • Work collaboratively with operational leaders to strengthen accountability and continuously improve safety performance.

  • Support safety planning and risk management associated with the planned relocation of NSW operations to Kemps Creek in Q1 2027.

About You

We are seeking an experienced Safety Advisor with strong technical knowledge, sound judgement and the confidence to operate effectively in a busy operational environment.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a WHS advisory role, preferably within transport, warehousing, logistics or a similar high-risk operational environment.

  • A Certificate IV or Diploma in Work Health and Safety, or relevant tertiary qualifications.

  • Strong working knowledge of NSW and QLD WHS legislation and practical risk management principles.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, safety audits and risk assessments.

  • Knowledge of Chain of Responsibility and heavy vehicle safety requirements.

  • Experience engaging with frontline workers, contractors, supervisors and senior management.

  • Strong communication, report writing and organisational skills.

  • Confidence to challenge unsafe practices and influence positive safety outcomes.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel between NSW operational sites.

Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and digital WHS management systems will be highly regarded.

What We Offer
  • Permanent full-time employment with an established national logistics business.

  • The opportunity to work directly with operational leaders and influence safety outcomes.

  • A supportive national PSEQ team.

  • Exposure to diverse transport, warehousing and logistics operations.

  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

  • Involvement in supporting the transition to AirRoad's planned Kemps Creek facility.

  • A role where your experience, initiative and practical safety knowledge will be valued.

AirRoad Group is committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.
