Job summary

NW People is seeking an HSE Business Partner to support safety, wellbeing and compliance across NSW and nationally. The role blends field safety, coaching, audits and continuous improvement, working with branch leaders, managers and customers.

The position is based at the Wetherill Park Head Office with regular travel to branches, sites and customer locations. It offers hands-on safety leadership and opportunities to influence safety outcomes across multiple environments.

Qualifications

  • Essential WHS qualification and current driver’s licence.
  • Proven ability to influence and coach leaders at all levels.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across NSW.

Responsibilities

  • Lead workplace incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist with corrective/preventive actions and risk controls.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations.
  • Manage injury management, Return to Work processes and workers’ compensation initiatives.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and safety training; maintain records and compliance docs.
  • Support client safety reviews, inspections and safety meetings.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and build relationships with stakeholders.

Job description

As the HSE Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting the safety, wellbeing and compliance of our workforce across NSW and nationally. Partnering with branch leaders, operational managers and customers, you will help drive positive safety outcomes across warehousing, logistics, manufacturing and labour hire environments.

This is a hands-on role that combines field-based safety support, coaching, investigations, audits, injury management and continuous improvement activities. Success in this role comes from building strong partnerships and influencing leaders to embed safety into everyday operations rather than simply policing compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support workplace incident investigations, including identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of corrective and preventative actions
  • Conduct workplace inspections, site audits and safety observations
  • Undertake risk assessments, hazard identification and risk management activities
  • Support Return to Work and injury management processes
  • Assist with workers compensation and injury prevention initiatives
  • Deliver toolbox talks, safety communications and workplace training
  • Maintain safety records, reports and compliance documentation
  • Participate in internal audits and support external audit activities
  • Assist branch leaders and operational teams to manage safety risks and compliance requirements
  • Participate in client safety reviews, inspections and meetings
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Build strong working relationships with operational teams, customers and other stakeholders
  • Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing as required
About You
Essential
  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
  • Current driver's licence
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
  • Ability to influence, coach and support leaders at all levels
  • Willingness to learn, develop and build a long-term career in Health and Safety
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout NSW
Desirable
  • Experience within labour hire, manufacturing, warehousing, transport or logistics
  • Return to Work or workers compensation experience
  • Drug and Alcohol testing qualifications or willingness to obtain
