Job summary

The Far West NSW Local Health District in Broken Hill is seeking a Social Worker in Palliative Care and Cancer Services to provide social, emotional and psychological support to patients and their families, including palliative care patients.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work or Psychology with minimum 3 years clinical experience.
• Membership or eligibility for NSW registration.
• Ability to provide social, emotional and psychological support to patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide social, emotional and psychological support, counselling and interventions to patients with cancer and their families, and to palliative care patients and their families.
• Utilise advanced practice skills to assess and implement evidence based psycho-social interventions.
• Provision of an outreach services to people from rural communities delivered via a range of modalities including telehealth.
• Support of cancer and palliative care patients and their family through education programs, expert advice, on-site support and resources.
• Raise awareness of cancer and its psychological impacts through public health initiatives and community engagement activities
