Job summary

Hunter New England Local Health District is recruiting a Rural General Nurse Practitioner/Transitional Nurse Practitioner to join Moree District Hospital. The role offers a structured NP framework and ongoing professional support for clinicians transitioning to endorsement.

Working with Emergency Department, inpatient services and community teams, the NP will provide advanced clinical assessment and management with a focus on reducing ED wait times and avoidable representations.

Qualifications

• Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or transitional progress toward endorsement.
• Post Graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing or evidence of working towards attainment with at least 3 years post registration emergency experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management within an approved scope of practice.
• Support patient flow and hospital avoidance through timely assessment and management of patients.
• Collaborate with Emergency Department and community teams to improve patient pathways and reduce avoidable ED presentations.
• Provide advanced chronic disease assessment and management, supporting continuity of care between hospital, primary care and community services.
• Provide clinical leadership and expert nursing advice across the service.
• Support evidence-based practice, research and quality improvement activities.
• Contribute to education, mentoring, coaching and professional development of nursing and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Practise as a senior clinician who can respond flexibly and effectively to changing needs of a rural health service.
