Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Health and Security Assistant to support safe, patient-centred care across rural facilities in Queanbeyan.

The role requires a NSW Security licence (Class 1A) or willingness to obtain it within 3 months, a Nationally Recognised First Aid certificate, and flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, with duties including ward assistance, patient transport, cleaning and security tasks.

Qualifications

• Current NSW Security licence (Class 1A minimum) with ability to maintain and to obtain Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) First Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment.
• Knowledge of and willingness to support person-centred care in a health care environment.
• Experience working and communicating with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Physical capacity to perform duties including lifting and transferring patients.
• Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and aggression management.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and to operate on a 24/7 roster.
• Knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and related responsibilities.
• Evidence of a valid unrestricted driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Support ward operations and contribute to safe, patient-centred care.
• Porter patients within the facility/campus.
• Undertake cleaning duties and assist with general duties as directed.
• Provide security duties under the direction of clinical staff.
