Job summary

Western NSW Local Health District is seeking a Senior Staff Specialist in Geriatrics to develop a new rural outreach model of care. The role combines telehealth outreach with on-site clinics across multiple locations to support older adults with acute illness and those in Residential Aged Care homes.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities for teaching, research and quality improvement, and may engage with partner universities for

Qualifications

• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Effective clinical communication through IT and written/verbal skills.
• Commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
• Available to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Fellowship of the applicable College.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist input for acute care of older people in outreach and hospital settings.
• Consult with Residential Aged Care Homes and General Practitioners for management and service development.
• Lead and develop the Aged Care Outreach Service across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with ED, inpatient teams and hospital‑in‑the‑home services to optimise care.
