Built Robotics seeks a Robotics Hardware Engineer to re-imagine and design hardware for our fleet of autonomous heavy construction equipment in Brisbane. You will scale hardware systems, test reliability in field conditions, and integrate rugged sensors for reliable autonomy data.
You’ll contribute to setting up Brisbane manufacturing, shaping assembly workflows, and scaling production while collaborating with software and field teams to debug complex hardware issues on site.
Built Robotics’ mission is to build the robots that build the world. We’re a physical AI company putting autonomous heavy equipment to work on real job sites. By automating repetitive tasks in the $300 billion solar industry, Built is bridging the workforce gap to accelerate our transition to clean energy.
With support from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), we’re now setting up robot manufacturing in Brisbane, and this role will be part of building it from the ground up.
As a Robotics Hardware Engineer, you’ll get to re-imagine and design hardware for our fleet of autonomous heavy construction equipment. You’ll have broad responsibility for scaling our hardware systems and testing them for reliability in the field.
Our robots work in harsh conditions: hot summer days, cold and rainy winters, high vibration, shock and dust. You’ll tackle these challenges head on by sourcing rugged sensors (cameras, lidar, GNSS, IMUs) and configuring them on the robots so our autonomy system gets reliable data.
You’ll use your mechanical and electrical design experience to make our equipment more reliable and longer-lasting. That means analysing vibration and shock data, designing mounts using sound dynamics and vibration engineering principles, and building setups for life-cycle testing.
You’ll also play a key part in standing up our Brisbane manufacturing operation. You’ll create robust, repeatable processes for building our guidance systems, shape build and assembly workflows, and help scale local production. You’ll install systems on equipment at sites across Australia, develop best practices for managing a fleet of hardware systems, and work closely with our software engineers and field team to debug and resolve complex hardware issues in the field.
