Job summary

Andromeda is seeking an Embedded Linux / Kernel Engineer to own and advance the Linux platform running Abi, a Jetson-based robot. You will work across the hardware/software boundary, improving provisioning, device bring-up, and upgrades while collaborating with firmware, electrical, autonomy, AI, and product teams.

You will debug complex boot, networking, and peripheral issues, strengthen hardware interfaces, and contribute to next‑generation robot platforms with scalable, reliable software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3-6 years of embedded Linux, systems programming, robotics software, or related experience.
• Strong Linux fundamentals and debugging across userspace, services, and configurations.
• Experience wiring hardware with embedded or robotics systems.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Rust, or Python; systems-level programming required.
• Familiarity with kernel drivers, boot processes, device trees, BSPs, or hardware interfaces.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with firmware, electrical, autonomy, AI, and product teams.
• Clear technical communication and documentation habits.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve the Linux platform powering Abi, including OS-level behavior, kernel integration, hardware interfaces, and deployment.
• Investigate and resolve low-level system issues across boot, provisioning, upgrades, peripherals, networking, and storage.
• Support bring-up and integration of embedded hardware and compute platforms across device trees and drivers.
• Improve provisioning, flashing, and deployment flows for engineers, manufacturing, and field operations.
• Collaborate with firmware, electrical, autonomy, AI, and product teams to define clean hardware/software interfaces.
• Contribute to OS/platform upgrade work including kernel, JetPack, ROS and related dependencies.
• Build or improve tooling, automation, logging, and diagnostics for low-level issues in dev or real hardware environments.
• Support validation and testing of platform changes on real robots and in hardware-in-the-loop workflows.
• Produce clear technical documentation for setup, deployment, debugging, and recovery procedures.
