Job summary

The University of Sydney is seeking a Robotics and Digital Fabrication Officer to coordinate the Robotics Laboratory within the Design Modelling and Fabrication Lab, Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. This part-time, fixed-term role focuses on delivering specialist technical support for teaching, research and fabrication activities.

You will develop tooling, workflows and instructional content to enable access to robotics, supervise lab safety, and provide training to students

Qualifications

• Experience in a fabrication laboratory or education environment.
• Proficiency with 3D modelling and CAD/CAM software relevant to the work area.
• Ability to develop and deliver teaching materials and practical instruction.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance in an educational lab.
• Capability to support teaching, research and fabrication workflows.

Responsibilities

• provide specialist technical support for teaching, research, and operational activities within the Robotics and Digital Fabrication Laboratories
• ensure the laboratory environment effectively supports the School's learning, teaching, and research objectives
• develop, maintain, and enhance laboratory technologies, systems, workflows, and services
• oversee laboratory compliance with Workplace Health and Safety requirements, promoting a safe and effective working environment
• undertake fabrication and prototyping projects, including the preparation of associated documentation, reports, and technical records.
