Job summary

Gladstone Hospital in Queensland is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its Emergency Department on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-acuity environment where your clinical skills and emergency expertise will make a real difference.

The role involves triage, resuscitation, and acute patient care in a busy ED. You will practice advanced clinical skills including IV cannulation, airway management, and critical care support, with ALS/PALS

Qualifications

• ALS certification and PALS certification required.
• Demonstrated competence in emergency triage and resuscitation protocols.
• Proficiency with IV cannulation and ability to support ventilated patients in ICU settings.
• Experience in neonatal care or willingness to apply skills in this context.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments.

• Work across triage, resuscitation, and acute patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Contract position with flexibility and a defined end date of 27 September 2026
• Opportunity to practise advanced clinical skills including IV cannulation, airway management, and critical care support

Preferred Requirements

• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Demonstrated competence in emergency triage and resuscitation protocols
• Proficiency with IV cannulation and ability to support ventilated patients in ICU settings
• Experience in neonatal care or willingness to apply existing skills in this context
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills in high-pressure environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (NRG 5 classification)
• Post-graduate qualification or demonstrated experience in emergency nursing
• Additional training in trauma or critical care nursing is advantageous
