Job Description & Summary

Our clients count on us when the stakes are high - when critical business processes and information assets need protecting, and when emerging technologies need to be trusted. As a Manager in our Digital and Controls Assurance team, you’ll lead the delivery of large-scale IT and business process controls engagements, with a focus on controls transformation and automation. You’ll work across financial services, resources, technology, ASX-listed and not-for-profit clients, helping them rethink how controls are designed, performed, monitored and assured in an environment reshaped by AI, automation and rising regulatory expectations.

You’ll partner closely with our CFO Advisory business on finance transformation programs, bringing the risk and controls lens to major ERP and process change, and help shape the future of controls performance, monitoring and assurance through technology and AI.

Why PwC?

At PwC Australia, your skills meet purpose. We tackle big challenges across industries - giving you the chance to make a real impact. Here, your growth is our priority. You’ll work with leading teams, explore new technologies, and unlock your full potential.

Join a global community of more than 370,000 people who value bold ideas, collaboration, and lasting change. Together, we’re building trust and shaping the future.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the delivery of complex, large-scale IT and business process controls engagements, with a focus on controls transformation and automation - from current-state assessment and control redesign through to implementation and embedding.

  • Work side by side with our CFO Advisory business on finance transformation programs, providing the risk and controls perspective on future-state process and control design, ERP and system implementations, and post-go-live control operation.

  • Help shape the future of control performance, monitoring and assurance - designing continuous controls monitoring solutions and applying automation, data analytics and AI to make controls cheaper to run, faster to evidence and more efficient to test.

  • Advise clients on process and controls change driven by regulation and reporting reform, including SOX and JSOX readiness and remediation, internal control over financial reporting uplift, and controls assurance over technology-enabled processes.

  • Provide independent assurance and quality review over major transformation programs, giving boards, audit committees and executives confidence that risk and control is being managed as change lands.

  • Build and nurture trusted relationships with CFOs, CIOs, heads of internal audit and other senior executives, understanding their strategic objectives and shaping controls solutions that support them.

  • Mentor and develop high-performing teams, coaching colleagues into this growing capability area and fostering a culture of continuous learning, diversity and collaboration.

  • Play an integral role in business development by identifying growth opportunities, crafting proposals and expanding PwC’s footprint in controls transformation and digital trust.

  • Grow a network of clients and team members to build your career as you progress within the firm.

What we’re looking for:

Core skills

  • Extensive experience (typically 7+ years) as a systems, process and controls specialist - reviewing and redesigning IT systems, business processes and controls to improve design and operating effectiveness - gained in a professional services or comparable advisory environment.

  • Demonstrated experience across common global ERPs (SAP, Oracle, JDE, D365 or similar), including the process and application controls, segregation of duties and configuration that sit within them.

  • Proven leadership in managing multiple large client engagements and delivering complex controls transformation or technology risk advisory projects end to end.

  • Experience redesigning business processes and IT controls to meet evolving compliance and reporting requirements, including complex SOX or JSOX programs and other internal control over financial reporting regimes.

  • Working knowledge of governance, risk and compliance frameworks and standards (for example COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 1 and SOC 2) and how they translate into practical control design.

  • A genuine interest in controls automation - using technology, data analytics and AI to transform how controls are performed, monitored and evidenced.

  • Strong commercial acumen and business development capability.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders, including C-level reporting on program status and risk.

Desirable skills

  • Experience delivering finance transformation or ERP implementation programs alongside finance or CFO advisory teams.

  • Experience designing or implementing continuous controls monitoring solutions.

  • Experience assessing agentic AI solutions and AI governance.

  • Quality assurance or programme assurance experience over complex IT and transformation projects.

  • A track record of capability building - coaching consultants, designing learning curricula or leading recruitment.

  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications in IT audit, advisory or business information management.
