Southern Rural Water in Victoria seeks an experienced Revenue Officer to drive accurate customer billing, improve debt management, and maintain revenue systems. The role focuses on reducing overdue accounts, engaging with customers to resolve balances, and coordinating recovery actions within SRW policies.

You will contribute to revenue planning, reporting and continuous improvement within the water sector. Negotiable location across SRW offices offers flexibility in where you work from.

Competenze

• Experience in a professional business environment with accounting administration or revenue management.
• Experience in customer billing, accounts receivable and proactive debt collection.
• Understanding of property management and conveyancing principles.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for overdue accounts within policy and authorities.

Mansioni

• Maintain charge controls and source data in SRW’s billing system, ensure tariffs/charges are configured and approved.
• Administer debt collection per SRW procedures and ESC directions, prioritising aged debt and risk.
• Engage with customers to resolve account queries and establish payment arrangements.
• Assist annual tariff approvals, regulatory submissions and tariff publication.
• Administer revenue, billing and related financial systems, including data quality and controls.

Southern Rural Water is currently seeking an experienced Revenue Officer to join our Commercial Services team. In this role, you will play an important part in delivering accurate and timely customer billing, strengthening debt management practices and maintaining effective revenue systems and processes.

A key focus of the role will be improving the management of overdue customer accounts, including engaging with customers to resolve outstanding balances, monitoring payment arrangements and coordinating recovery action in line with SRW policies and delegated authorities. You will also contribute to revenue planning, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for a finance professional to broaden their experience in revenue management and financial operations, while contributing to process improvements and effective revenue management within the water sector.

As the Revenue Officer, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Maintain charge controls and source data within SRW’s billing system, ensuring tariffs and charges are correctly configured and approved.
• Administer debt collection in accordance with SRW procedures and Essential Services Commission directions, including reviewing aged debt and prioritising collection activities based on account age, value, payment history and risk.
• Engage with customers to resolve account queries, secure payment and establish and monitor approved payment arrangements, including referral to hardship processes where appropriate.
• Assist annual tariff approvals, regulatory submissions and tariff publication.
• Administer revenue, billing and related financial systems, including data quality, controls, exception management and user support.

About you

The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below:

• Demonstrated experience in a professional business environment, ideally in accounting administration, revenue management or financial operations.
• Experience in customer billing, accounts receivable and proactive debt collection
• Understanding of property management and conveyancing principles.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage difficult conversations about overdue accounts and establish payment arrangements within policy and delegated authorities.
• Proficiency in revenue, billing and financial systems, including maintaining data accuracy, investigating discrepancies and supporting system users.
