Job summary

Foundation Recruitment & Contracting Australia is seeking an experienced Retail/Centre Manager for a major retail asset in Darwin. You will join the leadership team to drive day-to-day performance and contribute to strategic asset outcomes.

You will partner with the Centre Manager and senior leaders to steer commercial performance, stakeholder relationships, business planning and capital projects, with a clear path to greater Centre Management responsibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience within Centre Management (ideally).
• Background as a Retail Manager, Operations Manager or Centre Manager of a smaller asset.
• Strong understanding of the retail property sector.

Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with key retailers including performance, debt, lease matters and negotiations.
• Monitor and drive centre KPIs, retailer sales performance and precinct trends.
• Contribute to the annual business plan and broader asset strategy.
• Prepare and present key management and financial reports.
• Manage sales forecasts, turnover rent, budgets, abatements and other financial reporting.
• Overlap with Leasing to support leasing strategy and retailer reviews.
• Oversee retailer engagement, tenancy delivery, refurbishments and shop openings.
• Lead customer-facing capital works and projects.
• Collaborate with Operations to resolve issues affecting centre performance.
• Maintain centre presentation, standards and customer experience.

Working closely with the Centre Manager and broader leadership team, you will play a key role in the strategic and commercial performance of the centre, gaining significant exposure across centre operations, financial performance, retailer relationships, business planning, capital projects and stakeholder management.

The Opportunity

You will take ownership of the day-to-day retail performance of the centre while becoming an increasingly influential member of the senior management team.

Your responsibilities will span:

• Managing relationships with key and critical retailers, including performance, debt, lease matters and retailer negotiations
• Monitoring and driving centre KPIs, retailer sales performance and precinct trends
• Contributing to the annual business plan and broader asset strategy
• Preparing and presenting key management and financial reports
• Managing sales forecasts, turnover rent, budgets, abatements and other financial reporting
• Working closely with Leasing to support leasing strategy and critical retailer reviews
• Overseeing retailer engagement, tenancy delivery, refurbishments and shop openings
• Taking a lead role in customer-facing capital works and projects
• Working closely with Operations to resolve issues impacting retailer and centre performance
• Maintaining a strong focus on centre presentation, standards and customer experience
• Supporting emergency, risk and duty management responsibilities
• Building strong relationships with retailers, stakeholders, community and industry representatives
• Providing leadership, direction and support across the broader Centre Management team

We are looking for an experienced retail property professional with:

• 5+ years' experience within Centre Management (ideally)
• A background as a Retail Manager, Operations Manager or Centre Manager of a smaller asset
• Strong understanding of the retail property sector
• Strong commercial and financial acumen
• Experience managing key retailers and complex stakeholder relationships
• Confidence interpreting financial, sales and performance data
• Strong understanding of retail leasing and compliance
• Demonstrated strategic and operational planning capability
• Strong leadership and people-management skills
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
• A proactive, commercially focused approach to problem solving
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Property or a related discipline is desirable
