Job summary

Meadows Family Restaurants Pty Ltd owns and runs McDonald's Mittagong. This full-time Department Manager role involves overseeing daily store operations, ensuring adherence to McDonald's SOPs, and leading front-of-house and back-of-house teams.

You will drive food safety, staff development, audits, and KPI reporting, with a strong emphasis on compliance with the Fast Food Industry Award 2020 and WHS requirements; a diploma and relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience, including at least 1 year in a management role within McDonald's or a similar fast‑food environment.
• Diploma in management or higher; or 3+ years of relevant experience in lieu.
• Completion of one or more Department Streams Courses, including post-class action plan.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
• Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) and Fire Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain before start).
• Knowledge of Fast Food Industry Award 2020 and implementation experience.
• Experience audits, risk reviews, and workplace investigations.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily store operations in alignment with McDonald's standards and SOPs.
• Oversee front-of-house and back-of-house activities including product flow, food safety, kitchen efficiency and shift execution.
• Monitor compliance with HACCP, WHS, and internal audit frameworks.
• Prepare for and lead internal and external audits with up-to-date, auditable documentation.
• Ensure employment practices comply with the Fast Food Industry Award 2020, including rostering and payroll.
• Monitor and report KPIs such as sales growth, COGS, wastage and labour-to-sales ratio.
• Manage budgets, including cost forecasting and P&L accountability.
• Lead inventory control using digital stock management systems and ensure loss prevention.
• Lead structured training programs to upskill shift leaders, supervisors and assistant managers.
• Implement customer service standards and training to ensure high-quality service.
