Job summary

Arts Northern Rivers in Lismore is seeking a Resource Recovery Attendant to support safe, efficient movement, sorting and recovery of waste materials. You will interact with the community and operate small plant equipment while upholding council values and WHS standards.

The role requires a White Card, a Class C licence, and a Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain). RIIMPO318F or equivalent experience is preferred, with weekend roster commitments included.

Qualifications

  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card) is required.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence is required.
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF Class) or willing to obtain.
  • RIIMPO318F or equivalent experience or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team to achieve operational goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource recovery or similar labouring roles.
  • Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual tasks to support safe movement, sorting and recovery of waste materials.
  • Deliver professional customer interactions with the community in line with Council values.
  • Operate and maintain small plant and equipment to support site operations.
  • Follow Work, Health and Safety policies to ensure safety of self and others.
  • Contribute to a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays as required.

About this Position:

The Resource Recovery Attendant is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Resource Recovery facility by providing manual labour, guiding customers and operating equipment. This role plays a key part in promoting sustainable waste practices, maintaining site safety and cleanliness and delivering high quality service.

What we trust you to deliver:

Perform a range of manual tasks to support the safe and efficient movement, sorting, and recovery of waste materials.

Deliver professional customer interactions with the community in alignment with Councils values.

Operate and maintain small plant and equipment ensuring the safe, efficient use and routine upkeep to support site operations.

Follow defined Work, Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.

What you will need to be successful:
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF Class) - (or willing to obtain).
  • Conduct Civil Construction Skid Steer Operations - RIIMPO318F or similar (or willing to obtain).
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team to achieve operational goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in resource recovery or similar labouring roles.
  • Sound understanding and practical application of Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
  • The ability to participate in a rotating roster including weekend work and public holidays as required.

Salary: From $1,198.40 (Grade 6 Entry) per week + superannuation

Conditions of Employment: Conditions of employment are in the Local Government (State) Award and relevant Council policy, procedures and agreements.

Pre-employment Screening: Prior to employment, there will be a series of pre-employment checks that may include health assessments (such as functional fitness, audio, drug testing), validation of right to work in Australia, validation of qualifications and licences, criminal history checks, psychometric assessments and referee checks.

Immunisation Program: Council has an immunisation program to provide employees with vaccinations against known health risks associated with their respective duties and to identify any exposure to products that may affect an employee's health, fitness and wellbeing. This position has been identified as a risk to the employee and as such the successful applicant/s will be required to participate in the immunisation program and it is the applicant's responsibility to have undertaken relevant immunisation/s prior to commencement with Council.
