Job summary

Ora Banda Mining is seeking a Resource Development Geologist to assist with resource definition drilling, field planning, and data management at our Western Australian site. You will supervise drilling contractors, log drill core, and ensure data quality for JORC resource estimation.

We value hands-on geology work, 3D mining, and GIS proficiency (Leapfrog/QGIS). A WA manual driver's licence is required, and experience in mining operations is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology.
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally some exposure to mining operations.
  • Be passionate about being a resource development geologist.
  • Skilled in 3D mining and GIS software, preferably Leapfrog and QGIS.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project geologists with resource definition drilling programs, including targeting, planning, and execution of field‑based activities to support Mineral Resource estimation and mine planning requirements.
  • Support the safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of drilling programs, including day‑to‑day supervision of drilling contractors and ensuring diamond core, and RC drilling and sampling practices are conducted in accordance with company standards
  • Conduct high‑quality geological logging of drill core and chips, including lithological, structural, alteration, and mineralisation logging, and complete graphical logs to the required standard
  • Assist with drill hole data validation, including collars, downhole surveys, assays, density, logging, and QA/QC data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and suitability for JORC‑compliant Mineral Resource estimation
  • Assist project geologists in maintaining geological databases and records, ensuring drilling, rehabilitation, and tenement‑related information is accurately captured, managed, and reported in accordance with site and statutory requirements
  • Prepare and contribute to geological and departmental reporting (daily/monthly), ensuring information is accurate, coherent, and delivered in a timely manner
  • Conduct drill rig safety and environmental inspections, actively promoting safe work practices and minimising environmental disturbance during drill site establishment, operation, and rehabilitation
  • Support knowledge capture and handover, ensuring geological understanding of deposits and resource areas is appropriately documented to enable effective transition to operational and mine planning teams

The role

About you
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology
  • Minimum 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally some exposure to mining operations
  • Be passionate about being a resource development geologist
  • Skilled in 3D mining and GIS software, preferably Leapfrog and QGIS
  • An understanding of Eastern Goldfields geology and Archaean gold lode systems
  • Concise and efficient at report writing and other geological documentation
  • Class C WA manual driver’s licence
