Qualifications

• Carpentry background with solid understanding of structural steel, beams, posts and connections.
• Reliable, organised and proactive with hands-on leadership and practical site capability.
• Able to confidently run or coordinate an installation and lead by example when required.
• Experience leading employees, subcontractors, crane crews and other site personnel.
• Strong knowledge of erection methods, sequencing, temporary stability, rigging, lifting and heights.
• White Card and current driver’s license.

Residential Structural Steel Site Supervisor

Fortis Steel is looking for a full-time Residential Structural Steel Site Supervisor responsible for overseeing the structural steel installations process at our projects and assisting with site supervision. You will manage site measuring and making the steel list, coordinate installations with builder clients and carpentry teams, and ensure all work meets quality standards and plans.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Conduct Site Measuring and ability to prepare list for steel fabrication, including measurements, materials and cutting length.

Coordinate with the builder's carpenter regarding the project and structural steel installation.

Work alongside our structural steel install crews and maintain set standard and check if installation is correctly done as per plans.

Read Architectural and Structural Plans and make the structural steel list for the fabrication team.

Coordinate with the builder's carpenter regarding the project and structural steel installation.

Mark the site for the installation team.

Organise and oversee site-works and service connections.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Carpentry background with solid understanding of structural steel, beams, posts, baseplates, bracing, timber framing and connections, this is a bonus.

Reliable, organised and proactive with hands-on leadership and practical site capability.

Able to confidently run or coordinate an installation, understand the work being carried out, and lead by example when required.

Previous experience leading employees, subcontractors, crane crews, and other site personnel.

Strong knowledge of structural steel erection methods, installation sequencing, temporary stability, rigging, lifting, and working at heights

White card and current driver's licence.

Attention to detail and great communication skills to coordinate with the Builder Clients.

Structural Steel experience is a bonus, not a requirement, we will teach you the fundamentals of structural steel if you have the right construction background and the drive to learn.
