Job summary

Jack Engineering in Hastings, Victoria, is seeking a Structural Steel Estimator to join our Projects team. The role focuses on material take offs, pricing from tenders, and preparing detailed quotations for residential and commercial structural steel projects within a family-owned business.

You will read engineering drawings and architectural plans, liaise with suppliers for quotes, and manage document control while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience in material take offs from tender documents and pricing for fabrication and installation hours, materials, and coatings.
• Ability to prepare detailed estimate/quotation documents for clients.
• Familiarity with tender reviews, addendums, variations and change orders.

Responsibilities

• Perform material take offs and pricing from tender documents including fabrication and installation hours, materials, machinery and coatings.
• Prepare detailed, accurate estimate/quotation documents for clients.
• Review tenders, addendums, variations and change orders.
• Coordinate with suppliers to obtain quotations.
• Manage document control across Dropbox and Salesforce or similar systems.
• Liaise with builders during the tender process to confirm work scopes and handle RFIs.
