Ciena Corporation in Melbourne seeks a Resident Engineer to provide on-site technical support for our optical transport and network management solutions. You will be the primary technical contact, analyze network issues, and deliver recommendations across OTN, DWDM, ROADM, and switching technologies.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science and 2–5 years of experience in technical support within the telecom equipment industry, with hands-on work

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
2–5 years of experience in technical support within telecom equipment industry.
Experience with OTN, Broadband, Photonics, DWDM, ROADM, and switching technologies.
Experience with OME 6500, RLS, and Waveserver platforms.
Experience writing automation scripts or workflows using Python or similar.
Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and debug complex system-level issues on fiber optic transport and switching equipment.
Knowledge of fiber optic transport protocols and data communications protocols.

Responsabilités

Deliver on-site and remote technical support for Ciena optical transport and network management products.
Analyze network issues and recommend technical solutions to customers and internal stakeholders.
Evaluate product performance and provide input for improvements.
Create and publish customer-facing documentation (MOPs, RCA reports) and conduct health checks.
Serve as primary technical contact for customer troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Co-ordinate with development engineering to resolve escalated issues.
Facilitate cross-team communication to address incidents and systematic issues.
