Job summary

GenTech Seeds is seeking a Field Trial Technician to execute agronomy field activities at our Cobram Research Facility. You will plant, spray and harvest trials, collect data, and support trial logistics with GPS and Trimble tooling.

Responsibilities include coordinating with the Operations Lead, operating drones for data capture, maintaining site standards, and assisting with third-party trials such as STRIKE and NVT. A hands-on approach and strong Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Current HR or HC license
• Chemical user accreditation
• Basic agronomy understanding and field-based experience
• Drone experience preferable
• Experience operating machinery with GPS capability
• Advanced computer and Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct agronomy and phenology trials to support product positioning capabilities.
• Coordinate with the Operations Lead to ensure all field activities are completed and sites are checked regularly and maintained to a high standard
• Regularly operate drone to capture data and load into analysis software
• Ensure all trial protocols requirements are fulfilled and assist with site preparation for research field days
• Facilitate trial site locations, grower liaison and coordinate with the Operations Lead on trial site preparation requirements.
• Work with GPS, task management and Trimble software to ensure that all trial site activities are clearly recorded accurately
• Transport machinery between sites
• Keep well logged maintenance records and ensure that machinery is maintained to a high standard
• Assist the Operations manager with crop trialing execution planning and strategy
• Assist with trials (including but not limited to STRIKE, NVT, Research and any other relevant third-party trials) for site selection, trial preparation, packing seed, planting, irrigation, weed and insect control, pollinating hand harvesting and shelling

About the Role:

This role is responsible for executing all field activities on research sites including but not limited to planting, spraying and harvest. This role is also responsible for assisting with execution of data capture at trial sites.
