Job summary

NSW Health NBMLHD Nepean Hospital is seeking a Research Assistant in Cardiology on a temporary part‑time basis. The role focuses on developing, facilitating and implementing cardiology research, education and quality improvement projects, while supporting staff education on research activities.

You will contribute to a culture of learning and innovation, working within a multidisciplinary team to advance patient care and the department's research portfolio.

Qualifications

• A degree as specified meeting appointment requirements.
• Experience undertaking clinical research.
• Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and research methods.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience with statistical packages.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, facilitating, and implementing cardiology research, as well as educational and quality improvement projects within the Department of Cardiology. You will also support the education of staff and other professionals on research projects being undertaken, helping to foster a culture of learning and innovation.

What you will bring to the role

• An appropriate degree from a recognised university requiring a minimum of three years full-time study in Health Promotion, Public Health, Health Education, Social Science (with a health promotion major), or a related discipline, meeting the requirements for appointment as a Health Education Officer (Graduate).
• Demonstrated capacity to undertake clinical research
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate research projects and knowledge of evidence-based medicine. Broad knowledge of the research process and methodology
• Strong written skills in a range of formats, and strong interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to competently operate a personal computer and related software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
• Experience with at least one of the statistical packages
• Demonstrated teamwork within a multidisciplinary team
