Job summary

Department of Justice in Perth seeks a Research and Appeals Officer to manage correspondence for the Director Sentence Management, including Ombudsman enquiries, complaints and ministerial briefing notes. Qualifications

• Experience drafting and preparing formal correspondence and briefing notes.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (Prisons Act 1981 etc.) enhances performance.
• Ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders and manage inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage correspondence for the Director Sentence Management.
• Liaise with Ombudsman, ministers, executives and prisoners on inquiries.
• Research and prepare documentation for prison-related appeals and home leave processes.
• Provide support to Managers within Sentence Management and obtain legal opinions as needed.
