Job summary

Lightsource bp seeks an Environmental Planner to join its Australian Environmental and Social Planning team in Sydney. The role focuses on coordinating environmental planning and approvals for onshore wind, solar and storage projects with senior support.

You will work across Development, Engineering, Legal, Land and Community Engagement, contributing to a broad environmental program and learning to manage complex approvals within the renewables sector.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ relevant professional experience in environmental planning, environmental assessment, town planning or related field.
• Experience contributing to development applications, environmental impact assessments, planning approvals, permit applications or environmental management.
• Foundational understanding of Australian environmental and planning legislation and approval processes.
• Exposure to at least one Australian state or territory planning system, or a demonstrated ability to develop this knowledge.
• Experience coordinating information or deliverables from consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to interpret legislation and reports with senior guidance.
• Interest in renewable energy and knowledge of onshore wind, solar and storage projects.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental planning and approvals for onshore wind, solar, battery storage and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate consultant and technical inputs to environmental assessments and planning applications.
• Assist with preparing scopes, tracking deliverables, programs, budgets, risks and actions.
• Review technical reports for quality and alignment with project requirements.
• Engage with government agencies, councils, communities, landholders, and Indigenous groups.
• Maintain accurate project records and support handover to Construction and Asset Management.
• Monitor changes in legislation and contribute to process improvement and safety culture.
