Job summary

BHP in Western Australia is seeking a Technician Water Operations to ensure safe operation, monitoring and maintenance of potable water and wastewater treatment across our Iron Ore operations. The role is FIFO 7/7, servicing remote mining villages and sites.

You will monitor plant performance, conduct inspections, maintain records, and support continuous improvement while upholding health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Water Operations or higher.
• Current Australian C-Class Driver's Licence.
• Experience operating potable and/or wastewater treatment plants.
• Commitment to safe work practices and safety systems.
• Ability to work in remote locations and in teams.
• Chlorine gas handling or training is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor potable water and wastewater plants and infrastructure.
• Conduct routine inspections, performance monitoring and fault identification.
• Perform water quality testing and ensure regulatory compliance and environmental standards.
• Report hazards, incidents and equipment defects; support corrective actions.
• Coordinate and facilitate maintenance to ensure asset reliability and availability.
• Maintain accurate records and update operational documentation and systems.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams and contractors to meet objectives.
