Job summary

MatchaTalent is seeking a Head of Mining Operations in Papua New Guinea. This senior role directs all underground mining activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and commercially successful production in a remote FIFO environment.

You will lead mine development, planning, contractor management, and workforce capability while maintaining compliance with statutory mining regulations and international safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• PNG Metalliferous Mine Manager's CoC or immediate eligibility to obtain one.
• Minimum 10 years underground mining experience, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven leadership in remote FIFO mining environments.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for underground mining operations and mine services.
• Develop and execute short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans.
• Ensure compliance with mining legislation and safety standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, costs, capex, and cost optimization.
• Lead and develop supervisors, engineers, and operations personnel.
• Drive production performance and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate across functions to achieve site performance targets.
