Job summary

Miwatj Health Aboriginal Corporation invites vocationally registered GPs to join the remote Indigenous community of Galiwin’ku in East Arnhem Land, NT. Roles include a range of full-time, part-time, FIFO and fixed-term placements with relocation assistance.

Experience in remote health, cultural awareness and collaboration with local health services is valued. You will work under Miwatj protocols to support chronic disease management and population health initiatives.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and fellowship (RACGP/ACRRM) or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values and beliefs.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary society.

Responsibilities

• Active participation in daily clinical and health promotional routines.
• Accept referrals from other health team members.
• Review and follow-up patients with ongoing conditions.
• Use Communicare to identify care needs, initiate recalls and care plans, and document consultations.
• Practice according to CARPA guidelines and Miwatj protocols for chronic disease management.
