Job summary

Cipher Recruitment is seeking an experienced Drupal Solution Architect to lead architecture for government and enterprise digital projects. This role is 100% remote with permanent status and offers a competitive salary.

You’ll drive end-to-end architecture across applications, data, cloud and security, specialising in Drupal delivery, pre-sales, and governance. Australian citizenship and baseline security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Australian citizenship and current residence in Australia.
• Baseline security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one.
• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Technical Architect or equivalent senior technical role.
• Strong experience designing and delivering complex digital, software or technology solutions.
• Strong practical Drupal architecture and delivery experience.
• Experience across Drupal architecture, configuration, content modelling, module selection, integrations and deployment.
• Experience across the full lifecycle — pre-sales, discovery, solution shaping, implementation, assurance and operational transition.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, integration patterns and modern digital technologies.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable solutions.
• Strong API, integration, data flow and distributed systems experience.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to influence and lead without direct line-management authority.
• Strong problem-solving, systems thinking and analytical capability.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with delivery realities, commercial outcomes and client needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for complex government and enterprise digital projects, platforms and programs
• Define end-to-end architecture across applications, integrations, data, cloud, DevOps, security and operations, with a core focus on Drupal
• Lead discovery workshops, technical discussions, solution design and pre-sales activities
• Translate complex business, user and technical requirements into clear architectural solutions
• Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary delivery teams
• Guide Technical Leads, Developers and specialists while maintaining accountability for the overall solution architecture
• Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, trade-offs and architectural decisions
• Ensure security, privacy, resilience, accessibility and compliance requirements are embedded into solutions
• Work closely with clients, executives, technical teams and delivery stakeholders
• Assess emerging technologies and identify practical opportunities across cloud, AI, open source and digital platforms
• Support delivery assurance, operational readiness and transition into support
