Job summary

Megaport is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to help evolve core business systems. You will design, implement, and maintain RESTful APIs, while actively reducing technical debt and enhancing system stability.

You’ll work with Java/Spring and move towards Kotlin/Spring Boot, contributing to an agile team that values collaboration and ownership. You will join a remote-first culture with optional coworking, a focus on learning, and opportunities to work across time zones on a global product in

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience in Java with OO design and patterns.
• Experience building services for web applications.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Solid data modeling with SQL in relational databases; Hibernate preferred.
• Excellent collaboration and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs for client integration.
• Reduce technical debt and optimise architecture for stability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Apply best practices and design patterns across teams.
• Lead small feature development from concept to delivery.
• Contribute to Megaport's agile development process and continuous improvement.
