Job summary

Journey Beyond is seeking an experienced Fishing Guide to join the Outback Spirit team at our remote Arnhem Land lodge. You will lead blue water or estuary tours, deliver safe, engaging experiences, and tailor sessions to guests of all skill levels while sharing knowledge of local waterways and wildlife.

This casual role runs during peak Run-off and Build-up seasons. Must hold Coxswains ticket, NT Operators Licence (or willingness to obtain), Remote First Aid and a Manual Driver’s Licence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in blue water or estuary fishing.
• Strong knowledge of NT tidal movements and local fishing conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, safety-focused approach with ability to act decisively in emergencies.
• Willingness to support lodge operations as required.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests and set the tone for an exceptional experience.
• Lead safe, informative and engaging fishing tours for guests of all abilities.
• Share expert knowledge of blue water or estuary fishing, local conditions, tides and seasonal patterns.
• Educate guests on local wildlife, ecosystems and Arnhem Land.
• Ensure guest safety, including correct use of fishing equipment.
• Respond to emergencies and administer first aid if required.
• Prepare, maintain and store fishing equipment; keep gear clean, safe and operational.
• Maintain vessels clean and presentable.
• Assist with lodge operations during non-fishing periods.
