Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation delivering primary health care across remote Katherine West. The Alcohol and Other Drugs Coordinator leads day-to-day AOD services, collaborating with Primary Health Care and Healing & Wellbeing teams to integrate support into client care plans.

You will work with Aboriginal communities to plan prevention, education and harm reduction activities, guided by local priorities and cultural values.

Qualifications

• The AOD Coordinator role suits someone with qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, community services, social and emotional wellbeing.
• Candidates should have understanding of Aboriginal cultural values and commitment to self-determination.

Responsabilités

• Provide specialist AOD assessment, counselling, brief interventions and harm reduction support to clients, and provide AOD education to families and carers.
• Support staff through day-to-day practice guidance, shared planning and capability development to strengthen culturally safe AOD practice.
• Provide mentoring and workforce development to the community-based Aboriginal workforce, strengthening culturally safe, trauma-informed AOD practice.
• Build and maintain partnerships and referral pathways with AOD providers, Continuing Care Coordination services, cultural leaders and communities.
• Maintain accurate client records and contribute to program monitoring and reporting.
