Job summary

BHP is seeking a Reliability Electrical Engineer at Carrapateena in South Australia, reporting to the Senior Engineer – E&I and Control Systems. The role focuses on safe, reliable electrical asset performance across fixed plant operations, in a collaborative engineering and maintenance team.

You will apply technical expertise to optimise asset reliability, drive continuous improvement and deliver practical engineering solutions in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• IEAust-recognised Electrical Engineering degree.
• Experience in operational electrical and instrumentation engineering within heavy industry, processing, mining or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability with ability to analyse data sources.
• Sound knowledge of asset management principles and their practical application.
• Experience managing risk with electrical assets.
• Ability to provide pragmatic, technically sound advice to operations and maintenance teams.
• Experience delivering engineering projects and brownfields upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Support reliability, performance and capability of Carrapateena's fixed plant assets through engineering principles.
• Ensure designs and solutions are safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
• Partner with Maintenance Execution teams to improve asset performance.
• Identify, assess and manage electrical asset risks with appropriate controls.
• Collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
• Develop and implement improvement initiatives to enhance safety, cost, throughput and quality.
• Coordinate with consultants and external service providers as needed.
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and governance.
• Plan, prioritise and execute engineering work efficiently.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and evaluate opportunities.
