Job summary

Jenny’s Place in Newcastle is seeking a registered psychologist for a part-time role three days per week (Mon–Wed). You will provide evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention for women and children in a sector-first, trauma-informed framework.

Work closely with a Lead Psychologist in a multidisciplinary setting onsite in Warabrook. Ideal candidates will hold full AHPRA registration and preferably Clinical Psychology endorsement, with experience in child and behavioural psychology

Qualifications

• Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.
• Clinical Psychology endorsement will be highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in child psychology and/or behavioural psychology across adults and children.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention to women and children with varied and complex needs.
• Support clients using trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred approaches.
• Work with children, adults and families, drawing on child and behavioural psychology principles.
• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records, treatment plans, correspondence and reports.
• Participate in clinical supervision, case review, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with the Lead Psychologist and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate integrated support and referrals.
• Work within ethical, Medicare, NDIS and organisational requirements, including documentation for billing and reporting.
• Contribute ideas to the psychology service as it develops.

About the opportunity

Jenny’s Place is a leading Domestic and Family Violence organisation establishing a new specialist centre designed to provide integrated recovery support for women and children impacted by domestic, family and sexual violence. The centre will bring together psychological support with broader recovery, mental health and specialist services to help address the complex barriers that can interrupt long-term recovery.

As Psychologist, you will join Jenny’s Place at an exciting stage of development and work closely with the Lead Psychologist and a multidisciplinary team. You will provide evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention to adults and children, with a particular interest in child psychology and behavioural psychology highly valued.

This is a part-time opportunity working three days per week, ideally Monday to Wednesday, based onsite at Jenny’s Place premises in Warabrook, Newcastle.

Key responsibilities include:

• Provide psychological assessment, formulation and evidence-based intervention to women and children with varied and complex needs.
• Support clients using trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred approaches, with sensitivity to domestic, family and sexual violence experiences.
• Work with children, adults and families, drawing on child and behavioural psychology principles where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records, treatment plans, correspondence and reports.
• Participate in clinical supervision, case review, reflective practice and ongoing professional development with the Lead Psychologist.
• Collaborate with the Lead Psychologist and the broader multidisciplinary team to coordinate integrated support and appropriate referrals.
• Work within relevant ethical, professional, Medicare, NDIS and organisational requirements, including appropriate documentation to support billing and reporting.
• Contribute ideas and feedback as the psychology service, clinical pathways and practice systems are established and refined.

About you

You are a thoughtful and compassionate registered Psychologist motivated by meaningful work and supporting women and children experiencing complex circumstances. You may already bring experience across trauma, child or behavioural psychology, or have highly transferable experience and a genuine interest in developing further within this specialist area.

You communicate with warmth and professionalism, value collaboration and reflective practice, and are comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical environment.

In addition, you will bring:

• Full and unconditional registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.
• Clinical Psychology endorsement will be highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in psychology.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in child psychology and/or behavioural psychology across adults and children.
• An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the impact of domestic, family and sexual violence; direct sector experience will be highly regarded.
• Sound capability in psychological assessment, formulation, treatment planning and report writing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• A high standard of clinical documentation, organisation, professional judgement and confidentiality.
• Familiarity with Medicare, NDIS and/or Victims Services-funded psychological services will be advantageous.
• A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check will be required for this role.
